This was what I was trying to make when I made OpenGL Mistake No.2... It's a very simplistic attempt to create a visual equivalent to a musical instrument (and isn't necessarily successful).

Basically, this is a little project that evolved out of my PhD research - where I'm trying to create a musical instrument where the sound output is intimately connected to visual output.

In doing this, I had the thought of creating a visual equivalent to a musical instrument - i.e. something that creates an abstract visual output in the same way that (traditional) musical instruments create abstract audio output (meaning the sound/visual doesn't automatically make you think: "that's a picture of a building" or "that's the sound of a car").

Anyway, it doesn't do much - it's just a wee test program, but I think it's pretty cool, and I think there's a lot of further exploration possible in terms of creating interactive, realtime 'visual instruments'.
