Investigator is a free and useful tool for parents, bosses and administrators to check PC's for signs of computer piracy. It can help you locate downloaded songs, movies and CD's.
Investigator scans your computers registry and performs an exhaustive scan of all of your files and directories looking for signs of piracy. Any groupings of multi-media files are brought to your attention, as well as installations of popular file-sharing programs like Kazaa and E-Mule. You can then easily choose to uninstall or delete these files.
NOTE: Investigator will almost certainly find 'Media Nests' on your computer. These are folders in which a noticable number of multi-media files (such as MP3 music or AVI video) have been found. These are NOT always pirated material - often, software or games that are perfectly legal will be found to have Media Nests. You should always check the files to make sure they are actually illegal content before erasing them - your software may need them.
